6 Times Dolph Ziggler Got Screwed By WWE Creative
3. Over Reliance On Vickie
Playing the love interest of Vickie Guerrero isn't a negative thing in and of itself. Actually, it was in this role that Edge embarked on arguably his best-ever WWE run, waging a for-the-ages feud with Undertaker while the then-SmackDown GM was in his pocket.
With Ziggler, however, the context was a little different. Whle Edge had already made it on his own terms as a main event calibre wrestler, he was still a relative rookie, not yet proven at the very top of the WWE card.
Worse yet, the dynamic of this relationship eventually seemed to turn completely on its head. Where previously it could be argued Ziggler was using Vickie as a meal ticket, he was now being bossed around, persuaded even to change his trademark peroxide blonde hair.
A lot of the heat that he generated in this time wasn't necessarily his - it really belonged to his manager, one of the best (or at least most hated) heels of the last 10 or so years. Accordingly, when she disappeared, he really struggled to stand on his own two feet.
