6 Ups & 1 Down From WWE SmackDown (7 June - Results & Review)
1. The Most Fitting Stip Possible
Something simple but highly rewarding about Triple H's current WWE product is that everyone has clearly defined roles they play to a fine art. For example, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis sympathised with Cody Rhodes for being angry at AJ Styles, but didn't want a fight to break out in the parking lot. So, he tried to have security stop the brawling.
Later, Aldis leapt on the chance to make Cody vs. AJ II for Clash At The Castle, and went along with Rhodes pitching an "I Quit" battle between the pair for Glasgow. That stipulation is the best possible choice considering the build and circumstances. At one point, Cody said he was going to make AJ say the words he should've said during last week's retirement fake out.
Nice.
The pull apart between champ and challenger was heightened yet again once it became clear that security were leaving Rhodes open for a cheap shot from AJ. Styles didn't pass that up - he cracked Cody, then retreated knowing he got exactly what he'd wanted all along.
Fire from Rhodes and twisted manipulation from Styles = effective PLE build.
