6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 22)

Ups...

6. The Commentary

Powerhouse Hobbs Ricky Starks

Y'know what didn't sap any energy from the show? The commentary.

Excalibur and Taz have always had some good chemistry together. They've shown that when it's just the two of them on comms, and it's clear the latter is comfortable to let the former take the lead as play-by-play. Then, there's Chris Jericho, who interrupts a little too often but has tremendous passion.

Ricky Starks is the weakest of the four, and yet he's one million times better than Mark Henry was during Rampage's earliest episodes. Could it be that big 'Sexual Chocolate' just wasn't cut out for commentary and that threw everyone off? Possibly.

This fan would maybe drop Starks full time, but he's not horrible or anything. Jericho deserves an extra special mention for how hard he works to put everyone over (his appraisals for Anna Jay and Orange Cassidy, in particular, were sweet). The veteran also manages to avoid talking about himself too much, which is a trap so many new announcers fall into.
