6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 27)

4. Down - No Way But Up

It's been a while since No Way Jose was in action on NXT TV. Recently, though, he's become embroiled in his first feud, one with Austin Aries. It began last month when Aries, fresh off a loss to Shinsuke Nakamura, found Jose trying to cheer him up. That lead Aries to turn on Jose with a brutal attack. Two weeks ago, Jose found a measure of revenge when he attacked Aries after "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" scored a victory.

This week was Jose's first match in a while, and he took on NXT's Steve Cutler in what was yet another squash match on a show full of them. It was a weak bout - short, one-sided, and nothing special - but it was actually the best that Jose has looked so far. In order to build up a match with Aries down the line, Jose got angry at Cutler and started showing more of a mean streak. That was enough to make the contest at least slightly interesting, and to give Jose's win some meaning.
