6 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jul 28)
5. Not Done Yet
Deonna Purrazzo's first match since capturing the Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary saw her in a, surprisingly, competitive match with fellow ex-NXT star Kimber Lee. Even though the title wasn't on the line here, Lee still laid it all on the line against 'The Virtuosa' from the offset, something that could perhaps set her up for a potential championship match further down the line. There wasn't a moment when she looked out of place next to the champion.
An initial flurry of offence from Kimber would lead to her downfall, as a Pentagon Jr.-style arm snap and Fujiwara armbar sealed her fate. Once again, the way Purrazzo contorts the arm back never fails to be a sickening sight. A post-match appearance from Jordynne Grace saw the former champ enter with her arm in a sling, something she soon revealed as a ruse to get her hands on the woman who ended her reign on top, although she was still selling the arm as Deonna bailed. Perhaps it's not quite the plan we thought it was.
Continuing the Purrazzo vs. Grace story is an exciting prospect on Impact's part. Their rivalry building towards Slammiversary was simplistic. It didn't need to be anything too major, as their match was surely going to be off the rails. That, it was. Many were calling their Knockouts Championship match the greatest match on the 18 July pay-per-view. Why would anyone not want to see a second match between the duo?
