3. No Sense In Delaying The Inevitable

The moment Nikki Bella started cozying up to Stephanie Vaquer, the clock was ticking on when the Hall of Famer would turn on La Primera.

It turns out that fans didn’t have to wait very long at all.

Vaquer vanquished Raquel Rodriguez in a pretty good power-versus-cunning match for the Women’s World Championship, with La Ruda overpowering Stephanie several times, countering a Devil’s Kiss and then a Meteora with brute strength, and catching a springboard crossbody and hitting a fallaway slam. Vaquer counted a Tejana Bomb and other power moves with her speed and agility. In the end, La Primera’s corkscrew moonsault picked up the win.

Afterward, Bella once again countered Roxanne Perez’s attacks to save Stephanie before flattening her with the title. The friendship that started when Nikki mispronounced Vaquer’s name and saw La Primera pump her up with a pep talk last week after Bella lost yet another match is officially over.

And not a moment too soon. Nikki is not known for her subtle acting skills, so if she were called upon to play “friend who is bound to betray” for a couple of months, it would’ve been beyond obvious for even the most obtuse fan. Also, Vaquer can be forgiven for falling for Nikki’s act in such a short amount of time.

The outstanding question here is how they justify Bella getting a Women’s World Championship match after losing so many bouts. They’ll very likely shortcut it by having Vaquer demand the match, but that is probably the only glaring issue here.
