6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Night Of Champions 2025 (Results & Review)
1. John Cena’s Little Heartfelt Teases
Cena is having the greatest time toying with the WWE audience by looking like he’s just about to turn babyface all over again. At NOC, he knocked back hammering Punk with his title belt, took out Seth Rollins to stop him from cashing in MITB (or even turning the match into a Triple Threat at all), shook hands with Punk mid-match, then flashed that same evil grin he did back at Elimination Chamber before Seth accidentally saved his title.
Afterwards, Cena acted like this was all part of his masterplan, but the truth is that these face flirtations are totally deliberate and will build to something before he hangs up his boots for good. Punk, for all his own flaws, can see it. That’s why he extended his hand to John in the first place - CM believes there's no way Cena actually hates the WWE fanbase the way he claims to.
As usual, John's facial expressions and general mannerisms were on point. He agonised over clocking Punk with the title, seemed legit hot at the thought of Seth ruining wrestling before he gets the chance to, and the hug-into-stare routine he does is just killer. Pity The Rock couldn't be bothered to show up after Chamber to add proper context.
All of these mini teases will add up to something greater in the minds of fans. Most predict that Cena will go babyface again and repent for his sins before the end of the year. If so, then performances like this one at Night Of Champions will be remembered fondly.
