2. Seth Rollins Costs CM Punk
Seth Rollins walking out with Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed during the main event at Night Of Champions was an inevitability. What fans didn't know was whether or not Seth would successfully cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase to leave Riyadh as the brand new WWE Champion. Realistically, it was always John Cena leaving with that belt, but MITB acted as a fun teaser.
Eventually, after trying to cash in his case but being thwarted by Cena, Rollins settled for making sure that CM Punk didn't win the title himself. That was another correct call, and it was something Seth kinda had to do if he wasn’t going to cash in MITB after all. Wrecking Punk’s dreams has become Seth’s personal mission - he does it just for kicks, so this played out exactly the way it should’ve on the night.
There's a case to be made for Seth's own agenda against Punk costing him the chance to become champion too. This is a double edged sword for both these guys. Last year, Punk's rivalry with Drew McIntyre got in the way for both. Punk vs. Rollins does largely the same. They'd tear one another apart rather than keep their eyes on the prize.
Great choice by creative to bring Penta and Sami Zayn out to deal with Breakker and Reed. Then, full focus went back on Seth and his undying desire to burn everything related to Punk down. Rather interestingly, he also had some nifty interactions with a fellow heel...
