6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (17 Aug - Results & Review)
DOWNS…
3. An Underwhelming Confrontation

After building to this inevitable confrontation between Bron Breakker and Oba Femi, it was hard not to feel like this was somewhat of a letdown.
Breakker called Femi out and was met by… Paul Heyman. The Oracle tried to interject, but Oba made his way out for the big moment between the two. For a minute, this looked promising, with Femi dropping his accent to do a pretty spot-on impersonation of Bron and then letting Breakker know that everyone knows who the future of WWE is.
But before things could escalate, Heyman stopped Bron and launched into a speech about WWE being a publicly traded company, so the wrestlers have to answer to the shareholders and avoid impromptu matches (which is rich considering that’s how half of Raw gets booked each week), which is something “the future” of the company would understand.
Heyman then revealed that he had already spoken to Raw GM Adam Pearce to book Femi/Breakker for Sunday Night’s Main Event to determine who truly is “the future” of WWE.
And that was it.
Yes, the sight of the two together was an appetizer, with an entrée of the contract signing to come next week. But having Heyman be the intermediary who already had the solution in hand was… a choice. It might come to pass that Paul E. did this for a reason, and it will factor into the story, but it really short-circuited the confrontation.
Call this a mild “down” that might be the result of really high expectations rather than a bad segment.
