6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (17 Aug - Results & Review)

5. Best Of The Tournament

WWE Raw El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. Dragon Lee

It took a bit to get going, but Dragon Lee versus El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. ended up becoming a decent little match Monday night.

Wagner looked almost uneasy in the early going, taking an extra step, needing to get in position a couple of times, and moving a bit unsurely. But when he and Dragon engaged in a chop battle, he seemed to relax a bit, and the two had a strong finishing sequence that saw Wagner block an inside-out hurricanrana, powerbombing Lee from the apron inside the ring.

Dr. Wagner’s frogsplash nearly won the match, but Dragon came back with a pump kick. Wagner hit a superplex, but his follow-up attempt was met with an Operation Dragon. A second one finished the doctor.

All told, this paled in comparison to the Intercontinental Championship match that followed it, but the crowd got into this, and it finished strong, so we’ll give it an “up” here.
