6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (26 Aug - Results & Review)
4. The Case For The LWO
After shredding the treatment of the LWO in the “downs” column, there are a couple of positives to discuss from the show-opening match.
The LWO haven’t been seen on WWE programming as a fully functional unit in quite some time. Dragon Lee hasn’t competed on Raw in more than two months. Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde haven’t even had a match on Raw yet. And the last time they competed as the LWO, it was Rey Mysterio and Zelina Vega in a mixed tag.
Bringing the group back to get right in the face of the Judgment Day was a perfect move. The group includes LWO turncoat Carlito, scumbag son Dominik Mysterio, and the World Tag Team Champions in Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. It’s a wonderful recipe for a midcard rivalry between stables that can generate numerous solid-to-great matches.
The eight-man tag was a good preview of what’s possible, though as mentioned earlier, burning it in an impromptu match was dumb. However, the finish, which saw Liv Morgan once again assist Dominik in defeating his dad, was a great little piece of business. Dirty Dom specifically cited that as a main reason why he ditched Rhea Ripley for Liv in the first place, and Morgan solidified that relationship by paying dividends again.
One can only hope that things look up for the LWO after Monday’s performance and that all of them get camera time, not just Rey.
