2. The Tease Of Title Challenges To Come

Good lord, that Gunther segment really picked up steam once he'd confusingly contradicted himself about Bill Goldberg. Once that was out of the road, the World Champ could move onto more enticing business coming in the future. Seth Rollins got in his face, then CM Punk shoved the champ down after brawling with Seth. Those keeping score might've noticed that WWE lined up two title challengers in mere minutes here.

Matches such as Gunther vs. Seth (a fascinating heel vs. heel altercation) and Gunther vs. Punk are certainly more interesting and urgent than the situation with Goldberg. That's not even meant as a knock on Bill, but Triple H surely knows that his fanbase want to see title bouts starring the full-time crew more than returning legends. Quit the 2018 Saudi Arabian supershow-esque pretence, Hunter.

What a nicely-worked, chaotic segment all round. It picked up big time after Gunther's routine (sometimes clumsy) promo about Bill, and LA Knight even stopped by to eat some popcorn then ambush a retreating Rollins. There were loads of moving parts here, and they were well laid out. WWE avoided the usual promo train formula they've been relying on for decades by just having everybody get physical instead.

Like John Cena with the WWE Title, Gunther came out looking like a marked man everybody wants to get their mitts on. His shocked face when a fired up Punk shoved him to the mat means there's a receipt incoming for that. Punk may well end up bloodier than Jey Uso if he doesn't watch it.

The matches teased here can't come soon enough.
