6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 15 - Results & Review)

1. Not Sure This Was The Best Idea

So, shortly after confirming that Kabuki Warriors duo Asuka and Kairi Sane plan to win the Women's Tag straps, WWE had the pair struggle to beat two workers who aren't even actually a team. That's one of the biggest flaws in the women's tag game, being brutally honest - so many pairings come and go.

Asuka and Kairi should not need assistance to beat Zelina Vega and Michin. If anything, the story of this match should've been that the babyfaces were plucky but couldn't match the chemistry CTRL's unit has after years of teaming up together. The way creative sidestepped that obvious play was alarming.

Bayley aided her stablemates, then Damage CTRL posed together with beaming smiles. Someone should've stuck a hand up in creative meetings and suggested that having Asuka and Sane comprehensively thump Zelina and Michin would've been a better idea, especially if they're gunning for gold afterwards.

What a puzzling choice.
