6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash (Dec 27 - Results & Review)
4. “Pleasure Doing Business With You”
Some wrestling fans might well be critical of AEW's decision to take the ROH Tag Titles off MJF (and Adam Cole, don't forget) on Dynamite, but this writer actually liked what Tony Khan did here. The way Samoa Joe pulled wool over Max's eyes, and left him to battle the numbers disadvantage solo then ambushed him, was pro wrestling 101.
The tweener stuff Joe had been doing is now firmly out the window. He's the villain of this piece, because he screwed MJF over in favour of a payday from The Devil. That reveal better be something pretty special on pay-per-view, but back to TV for a second.
"Pleasure doing business with you" was a winner.
Now, in theory, MJF will be physically and psychologically damaged heading into the World Title showdown on Saturday night. That suits the Samoan veteran, and (again in theory) gives him a better chance of seizing the title.
