3. Iyo Fights From Underneath

The build to WrestleMania 42 was not very kind to Iyo Sky, distilling her down into Rhea Ripley’s bestie and sidekick while Mami chased the WWE Women’s Championship, and getting away from Iyo simply being one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Thankfully, having Sky run through the Queen of the Ring tournament had the potential to get back to basics, and that was on full display Monday when Iyo tangled with Raquel Rodriguez. Fans were firmly behind the Genius of the Sky as she fought from underneath against the larger and stronger Rodriguez.

Raquel caught Iyo’s suicide dive to the floor and lawn-darted her into the ring post at one point, but Sky fought back with Shotay palm strikes, kicks, a rolling stomp, Bullet Train Attack, and a missile dropkick – all in quick succession. However, Rodriguez snuffed out the rally by blocking a sunset bomb attempt off the apron and dropping Iyo on the announce desk.

Sky came back, though, and managed to hit a sunset bomb out of the corner, followed quickly by a moonsault for the win, advancing to the QOTR finals.

Fans were hot for Iyo, and she and Raquel delivered a fun, solid match that made it easy for the audience to rally behind the babyface. Good stuff all around.
