6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (28 Mar - Results & Review)

3. Big Jim & Miz Never Get Going

The Miz Jimmy Uso

One too many matches on this UK based edition of SmackDown sagged. Jimmy Uso vs. The Miz got a stir from the live crowd in London when it was announced during a backstage face to face, but the match itself didn't really hit. In execution, this was another fairly bland exhibition-style bout for the show. Only Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton survived that style of booking on the night, and that owed a lot to star power and the WrestleMania context added by Kevin Owens.

Uso vs. Miz was well-worked (these guys are total pros), but it never actually felt like it got going with any steam before the Uso Splash gave ‘Big Jim’ his win. Say a prayer for that man's chest when he meets Gunther on Raw. Let's assume the World Heavyweight Champion will want to avenge the slap from recent TVs. Poor Jim's torso could be mincemeat once Gunther gets done with it.

In truth, it might need to go that way, because this narrative that has Jimmy trying to gee up his brother Jey hasn't done much for the Rumble winner's push. Now, with reports that Jey vs. Gunther won't even main event night one at 'Mania, it remains to be seen if this is a false dawn for Uso.

Miz is the perfect candidate for losses like this one vs. Jimmy, but it'd be a lie to suggest you need to go out of your way to see the match. Functional at best would sum it up, but it wasn't the only match like that on Friday's broadcast.
