6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (28 Mar - Results & Review)

2. Secret Hervice Works, But…

...this match vs. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance didn’t.

Joe Tessitore perhaps explained why in a nutshell. The well-meaning play by play announcer pointed out that this was Chance and Carter’s first match on TV since mid-December. WWE hasn’t given fans any reason to care about anything the pair do, so why would that start now? Again, a functional match at best here. That's no surprise when Chance and Carter are involved.

It marked a winning start for Piper Niven and Alba Fyre as a team, which is the upside, but creative is still struggling for things to fill the wider Chelsea Green act’s time as a whole. Proof of that came when Zelina Vega rushed in to stake her claim for challenging Green and winning the Women's United States Title. Yeah, that's not going to happen.

Zelina's pitch won’t achieve a thing, because she’s another who vanishes for huge chunks of time and hasn’t really been doing much to give her challenge credibility. Last week's SmackDown didn't change that. This is all too middle of the road for someone with Chelsea's obvious talent and personality. She could blossom into a top star in the women's division if Triple H backs her, but so-so rivalries vs. Michin and now Vega could come to define her reign too. Unfortunately.

The Secret Hervice idea has potential, but it's rudderless without the right opponents. Milquetoast faces like the Chance, Carter and Vega trio won't cut it, that's for sure. WWE's audience needs to see someone opposing Green that they actually care about. It isn't much to ask.
