6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (28 Mar - Results & Review)

1. A Step Backwards For The Women

It might've shocked some to read it, but this guy didn’t hate the sit-down interview starring Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair as much as most others seemed to. However, he was hoping for some better follow up than Flair beating Michin in a dull match and Tiffy cutting a nothing promo with Jackie Redmond. Sadly, that was all WWE had in mind for this week's show.

Being fair, Charlotte did give Michin some shine, but that fell flat because fans in London just weren’t interested in Mia Yim. There's a recurring theme to that sentence, which frankly sucks when Michin clearly puts her all into performances. Something just ain't clicking, folks. As a consequence of that and Flair visibly going through the motions, everything here felt rather boring and skippable.

Stratton claiming that it wouldn't even be a big deal if she lost to the much more decorated Charlotte at WrestleMania was a strange piece of scripting as well. Generally, it's for the best if wrestlers don't dismiss their own chances and palm off defeats in advance. Most are hoping that won't happen, Tiffy! There isn't much call for Flair sitting atop the women's pile on SmackDown again.

Several weeks of fun brawls and tense interview segments gave way to sheer monotony on Friday. Whilst it's understandable that Hunter wants to give Charlotte some tune-up wins, it's also important that her matches seem exciting. This one didn't. Serious conversations need to be had about what state the division would be in with Flair ruling the roost again.
