6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (29 May - Results & Review)

1. Calling Out The Beast

It’s really tough to give Cody Rhodes a “down” when he clearly still has the fans in his corner on this Brock Lesnar feud.

But there’s just something off about the whole “broken arm but not broken spirit” angle that feels like it’s going to unravel at some point. Rhodes talked about not tapping out and that the fact he didn’t break should leave Brock unsatisfied, then issued an open challenge to the Beast to face him wherever he is.

And just to put a finer point on it, Cody called Lesnar “afraid” of him.

We should mention again that all of this could have played out (save for losing a match) had Rhodes won the world title at WrestleMania 39, and it would have added extra drama and weight to the feud. And this rivalry could have progressed without the loss – just have Brock break the arm in a brawl on a Raw after Backlash, setting up the second match for the same time, with the same message: Brock is afraid of Cody.

And what, this now stretches out to SummerSlam so the “broken arm” can heal? So Cody will have wrestled exactly four times between Mania and SummerSlam if he doesn’t get in the ring before then.

Since this is bound to be divisive, we’ll give the counterpoint on the “ups” side. It really is a tough one to rate.
