6 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 29)
2. Retconning Women’s Title Feud
You can appreciate the attempt by WWE to unravel the mess they created with this Raw Women’s Championship feud between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan, but that doesn’t mean it worked. If anything, it’s too little, too late.
They attempted to tie together Liv nearly crying on camera when Becks eviscerated her with Lynch cutting a tearful babyface promo after Survivor Series as Morgan said she channelled her emotions to punch the champ, while Becky was a blubbering mess after beating Charlotte Flair.
That’s some… really creative retconning. They even went so far with the creative retconning as to tie in Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan being real-life fired due to “budget cuts” as being Becky’s fault because of her “fat contract.”
Look, it wasn’t half-bad, but really, if they wanted Liv to be a credible challenger, then she should have won a couple of matches in a row before winning the #1 contender’s match, and then not blubbered while the champ sliced her last week.
Unwinding crappy booking with half-hearted revisionist history isn’t going to cut it. And considering the title match is next week, they aren’t planning on playing the long game here.
