6 Ups And 1 Down For WWE NXT (Mar 31)

1. LA Knight Is Back In The Driver's Seat

After taking the time to remind us how "incredibly simple" the concept we were about to witness was, despite it taking two people to explain, Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett stepped aside as Isaiah 'Swerve' Scott made his way down to the ring first for the Gauntlet Eliminator Qualifying Battle Royal.

He would soon find himself being attacked by his current rival Leon Ruff before the match had even got underway, however. Once the pair has been separated, a Strong-less rest of the field, consisting of Pete Dunne, Bronson Reed, Cameron Grimes, Tyler Rust, Dexter Lumis, LA Knight, Jake Atlas, KUSHIDA, and Austin Theory, all made their way to the ring, erupting into the expected chaos shortly after the bell rang.

Jake Atlas was first to go, succumbing to some Malcom Bivens interference, with his associate Rust soon following suit. The Way's devious Finger Poke of Doom plan also looked to be on the ropes early, with Theory being hip attacked off the apron, only to land on his back with his feet up like the petrified tortoise he is. A genius kip up soon confirmed that Theory is in fact, and always will be, an idiot.

KUSHIDA and Dunne were next for the chop as the pair of technical masters played a game of oneupmanship that saw both men tumble over the top rope whilst locked in an armbar - we'll now be treated to a full bout of this at TakeOver: Stand and Deliver too!

Ruff and Scott would soon follow in their footsteps thanks to Reed, and will now start Night 1's Gauntlet Eliminator. Finally coming to life after spending the entire match staring a whole through the rest of the group, Lumis aided Knight and Grimes send Reed flying next. One ill-advised attempt to bribe his temporary teammates later, Grimes too was sent home for an early shower.

Picking up some much needed credibility after falling to Reed last week, LA Knight was then able to ultimately steal the win after sailing through the middle rope and yanking Lumis' leg off the apron to secure last place in the Gauntlet Eliminator.

Fast-paced, and over before it overstayed its welcome, hopefully the Gauntlet Eliminator can deliver similar goods on Night 1 in just one week's time!
