6 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (May 11)

2. The Demon Returns

The show's main event pitted Finn Balor against Elias Samson in Balor's first step toward reclaiming his NXT Championship. Balor took an early lead, but Samson was able to overpower him and get the heat on "The Drifter." His offense wasn't pretty, but he worked over Balor's bandaged shoulder and managed to gain the upper hand.

Balor was down, but he wasn't out. He fought back, nailing Samson with a huge kick off the apron. Finally, "The Demon" was able to hit his opponent with the 1916, keeping him down for a decisive three count.

While the match certainly wasn't a classic, Balor fought back against a larger opponent and got a clear victory. I'm usually not a fan of WWE matches where a heel, regardless of his place on the card, gets a lot of offense on a pushed face, but the size difference between Balor and Samson made it more believable in the case.
