6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night’s WWE Raw (April 6th)

DOWNS...

5. Randy Orton vs. Kane

Is there any other possible combination of wrestlers less interesting in 2015 than Randy Orton and Kane? When The Director of Operations announced than Orton would be facing him in a singles match, the audience collectively groaned at the redundancy €“ not just of the match itself but for WWE once again dipping into the dried up well of having The Authority book the babyfaces in punishment matches. When Orton is motivated he's one of the best workers in the business, but when he isn't he can be as dull as they come. The Apex Predator seems to be inspired and is clearly headed toward a title shot vs. Rollins at Extreme Rules, but there's better ways to get him ready for that than being unable to pin Kane. The bout itself was mercifully short and ended in a disqualification victory for The Viper so at least we weren€™t subjected to a lengthy matchup between the two, but this trope of having The Authority place guys in matches as punishment needs to end now. These are wrestlers. How is making them wrestle a bad thing? It€™s their job!
