6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night’s WWE Raw (April 6th)
4. John Cena Is A Fighting Champion
Fans have been complaining about the senseless devaluing of the secondary titles for years now, with the Intercontinental and US championships being treated as jokes rather than the once prestigious honors they were formerly viewed as. When John Cena and Daniel Bryan left WrestleMania 31 with the two belts around their waists, there was cautious optimism that WWE had plans for those titles other than booking the champ to lose consecutive non-title matches while looking like a jobber dork. Were only a week in, but it seems that's exactly what the company has in store, at least as far as Cena and the US belt is concerned. Last week the champ defended the title in a hard fought open challenge vs. fan favorite Dean Ambrose, and this week he continued that with putting it on the line against Stardust. The thought of Cena vs. Stardust in any kind of title match would have been an absurd one no more than a few weeks ago, but with someone else sitting atop the WWE throne, this is exactly what Cena should be doing: Having very good matches with guys in the midcard whod never get a chance to work with him otherwise. This is a great opportunity to increase the profile of many of the talents on the roster. More of this, please.
