6 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Dec 14)
1. Bron Breaks Roddy, Ciampa Breaks Bron
Best to get the downsides when it came to last night's main event out of the way early. The Cruiserweight title and the division as a whole is surely dead in the water, right? Last night's emphatically clean win for Bron Breakker against current strap holder Roderick Strong all but confirms this to be the case, and it's just a damn shame to admit that what was once such a hopeful endeavour has whimpered out in such pathetic fashion.
Away from the death of 205, though, Bron and Roddy put on a physical spectacle here, with the former UE man smashing the rookie with all of the chops and forearms he could muster, throwing in a wicked double-knee gutbuster in for good measure too. But Breakker wasn't to be outdone, overcoming a nasty superplex to fire back with a World's Strongest Slam and his signature Gorilla Press Powerslam for the impressive win. Oh and he pulled out a hurricanrana at one point, as well. This Steiner has no limits, I tells ya!
But before the face of the new era could really enjoy getting the better of the Diamond Mine, Tommaso Ciampa was soon on hand to remind him that he's decided to step back into the multi-coloured deep end. Unfortunately for him, this is where Blackhearted sharks swim, and a savage Willow's Bell to the NXT title was his only reward for seeing off Roddy.
Ciampa vs. Breakker II will no doubt be an improvement on their first satisfying effort as the latter has already come on leaps and bounds just a few weeks removed from Halloween Havoc. And you'd be a fool to bet against NXT's future locker room leader.
Also, Waller vs. Breakker at WrestleMania 40, anyone?
