You can forgive Sasha Banks and Bayley for being a little awestruck and speechless Sunday night after winning the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

But you absolutely cannot give them a pass for turning in a bland, boring, paint-by-numbers promo Monday night. With 24 hours of prep time, Bayley and Banks fumbled their way through a promo where they talked about their emotional journey together from NXT to today, and then pledged to defend the tag titles wherever necessary.

The promo felt like it was written by a computer and recited after they were given 10 minutes to memorize it. It didn’t feel heartfelt at all, and seemed more like they were concerned with getting a few key points across. Those are the worst kinds of promos, but in this world of scripted comments, that’s what we get in 2019.

Just don’t expect things to improve as long as WWE insists on its scripted promos continuing.
