6 Wrestlers Once Considered To Be "The Next Undertaker"
There can be only one.
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and if that's true then The Undertaker has every right to feel good about himself.
There have been many wrestlers over the years who taken to putting their own spin on the 'Deadman's shtick, although - given how difficult it is to replicate his bone-chilling aura - many of them have done so in the name of comedy.
Mini 'Taker's appearance in the little people battle royal, for instance, or Santino Marella's dead-ringer Halloween costume.
You also had his own real-life cousin Brian Lee, who donned 'Taker's trademark trench coat for a few weeks until he was usurped by the real thing in SummerSlam 1994's main event.
But allusions to the other side and graveyard promos are a lot harder when you actually want to be taken seriously. That's why only a handful of wrestlers have tried to emulate the Deadman in the last few years - and fewer still have done so with any real success.
There's just something about watching a wrestler lay claim to supernatural abilities that doesn't wash if he can't back it up with three decades in the ring.
6. Kevin Thorn
WWE was so convinced that one-time indie star Kevin Fertig could fill The Undertaker's shoes that they hired him twice. The first time round, he was Mordecai, the right-hand man of God himself, who came to SmackDown in 2004 on a mission to bring "sinners" to justice.
With an all-white costume (including comically bright hair, beard and eyebrows), it seemed inevitable that his path would cross with that of The Undertaker (who wore black) but he was taken off TV before they had the chance to lock horns.
A couple of years later, though, he was back, this time as vampire Kevin Thorn - who accomplished little, apart from perhaps bringing a slither of credibility to the "Sci-Fi" vibe early ECW seemed to be shooting for.
He was supposed to be a dangerous oddball - except that he was neither dangerous nor an oddball (in fact, he had plenty of friends in ECW's short-lived "New Breed" stable).
