7 Major Dean Ambrose WWE Matches That Totally Disappointed
4. Dean Ambrose Vs. Chris Jericho (Extreme Rules 2016)
Dean Ambrose was in desperate need of some momentum coming off his lopsided loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, whereas Chris Jericho was riding high following his shocking victory over AJ Styles on the same stage. And so they were the perfect opponents for each other, and it was high time they crossed paths after a feud between the two was initially teased the prior fall.
Most of their matches were actually entertaining, specifically their Payback encounter. Ambrose emerged victorious in clean fashion, though their feud was far from over. Jericho continued to exact revenge in the weeks that followed by destroying Ambrose's beloved potted plant "Mitch" and attacking him at every turn.
Their ruthless rivalry was set to culminate at Extreme Rules in an Asylum match, which was essentially a steel cage with weapons (think TNA's Lethal Lockdown). Fans weren't what sure to expect from the bout, and while it could have been an interesting concept, it was ultimately a bore.
They spent far too much time climbing the cage to grab weapons they wouldn't even end up using for the most part. It didn't get good until the final few minutes where Ambrose dropped Jericho back-first into a sea of thumbtacks, but by that point, the damage had already been done.
