7 New Directions For WWE After The Greatest Royal Rumble

3. Brock Lesnar Taking Some Time Out

Unlike AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, it's time for WWE to put Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns to bed for a while. The nine-minute Steel Cage match they worked at the Greatest Royal Rumble was a lacklustre follow-up to WrestleMania 34, didn't feel like it settled anything and (once again) failed to garner sympathy for Reigns.

It's time for Lesnar to take a break from the company and go do something else. UFC is calling, and he himself has spoken of personal interest in an Octagon return recently.

Roman is about to resume his issues with Samoa Joe at Backlash too, so there's no realistic spot for Lesnar on the card. He's someone WWE can do without over the next few months, especially if he's going to proudly carry the Universal Title around with him when making promotional appearances on TV to hype an MMA comeback.

There isn't much clamour for a third Lesnar vs. Reigns match in 2018, at least not currently. It'll take some time away from the angle to make anyone warm to the idea of Roman finally taking Lesnar down a peg or two.
