7 Positive Things About WWE's 'Invasion' Angle

1. Big-Match Quality

They weren’t the matches that WWF vs. WCW fantasy bookers wanted to see, but the quality of the showcase pay-per-view bouts during the Invasion angle was generally excellent.

The five-on-five elimination match at Survivor Series, while rightly criticised for being loaded with WWE guys on both sides, was an entertaining and dramatic conclusion to the storyline.

Along the way, The Rock and Chris Jericho’s internal WWE rivalry came to a glorious head at No Mercy when 'Y2J' proved he could finally win the big one by capturing the WCW title.

There was also the trilogy of Kurt Angle versus ‘Stone Cold’ main events - the highlight being Angle’s title win in his hometown of Pittsburgh - and show-stealing Rob Van Dam spot-fests against Jericho and Jeff Hardy. Speaking of spot-fests - we can’t forget the King of the Ring street fight between Angle and Shane McMahon (who has since made that look a bit tame)?

The storyline might have been a mess, but the Invasion delivered when it got to the ring.
