7 Reasons Why James Ellsworth Is Obviously Not A Main-Eventer
3. He's A Blatant Contradiction
The sight of AJ Styles sitting on commentary watching James Ellsworth appearing in the main event for the fourth consecutive week made my heart ache.
When did comedic relief become more important than seeing the WWE World Champion AJ Styles (a sight that at the start of the year we thought we would never see), wield the audience’s attention in palm of his hand? When did we decide that gimmicks are more important than talent?
Admittedly, fans are rightfully confused. By virtue, AJ is a heel. We want AJ, but he don’t want none. On the other side, no one seems to care for Ambrose, which in itself is a problem given the potential he has, or had. Ellsworth has served as a vehicle for a lacklustre feud, which is concerning given these two are at the top of the food chain.
We search for stability and certainty, something that reflects our desires. Ellsworth provides that security. He delivers the unthinkable, and has been astutely used as a device to guide the struggling main event scene, something we knew would be an issue post-brand split.
