7 Reasons Why WWE Is Ruining Bray Wyatt

4. The Chris Jericho Feud Is Without Motivation

The Money In The Bank 2014 pay-per-view saw Wyatt competing for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the second of two ladder matches on the big show, an oddity for a character who€™d shown complete disinterest in wins and losses up until that point. But the following night, the Wyatt Family were back, doing what it had become apparent they did best€ blindsiding popular babyfaces for no real reason, and then inventing one later on. Except, to date, we don€™t really have a reason for their feud with Chris Jericho. None of Wyatt€™s few promos since the angle began have properly made it clear exactly why the Family have targeted Jericho, and there are no mind games this time, no attempts to recruit him as with Daniel Bryan, or to spoil his legacy as with John Cena. And Jericho€™s not helping matters. Despite clearly being in some of the best shape of his life (due, no doubt, to the apparent magical powers of DDP Yoga), Jericho had lost more than a little of himself to rust €“ in the ring, and on the mic. His meandering in-ring promo on July 14th€™s Monday Night RAW showed that the firebrand was a shadow of his former self. More than that though, Jericho was playing Y2J again, his default setting when returning from hiatus. The Ayatollah Of Rock N€™ Rollah doesn€™t take anyone seriously, let alone a backwoods hillbilly. Stumbling from his uneven, fruitless angle with Cena with a lot of the shine rubbed off, Wyatt needed a coat of fresh paint and a decent opponent to buff it up. To date, Jericho hasn€™t been the man to do it, and all appearances are that that€™s not going to change by Summerslam. It seems no one€™s really thought through why the Wyatt Family would attack Chris Jericho, a month and one pay-per-view after it started. Bray Wyatt€™s whole character is based around atmosphere, drama€ story. Without it, the Wyatts are just godless versions of the Godwinns.
