1. His Injury History Is Very Worrisome

WWE.comThere's a feeling that WWE may not want to touch Angle just because of all the injury history. While it's not fair to call Angle an injury prone wrestler, it's hard to deny his long list of injuries. In particular his neck and knee injuries are the ones that are most concern. One of the most famous stories about Angle's toughness is that he had a severe neck injury in 1996 when the gold medal in wrestling at the Olympics in Atlanta. They mentioned it in WWE many times with Angle talking about how he won a gold medal with a "broken freakin' neck" as his way of telling opponents that there was nothing he was afraid of. The fans admired him for that. He was able to stay relatively healthy for his first four years in WWE, but then another neck injury occurred in early 2003. At the time the thought was that he would miss WrestleMania 19 against Brock Lesnar. He was able to get through it, he had a surgery on his neck, was back in a few months (remember that awesome "Clocks" video?) and kicking ass again. Then after WrestleMania 20 a year later he took several months off again due to injuries. By the time they got to 2006 the injuries were piling up and he was gone from WWE. It wasn't because he was a bad performer. It was because of his health and his addictions. When he tried to go to UFC after WWE he apparently couldn't pass their physical due to all of his injuries. Could he get through a WWE physical? He might not be able to. There's a very good chance that WWE will want nothing to do with a guy in his mid 40s with Angle's history of injuries. We may want it to happen as fans, but if you look at from WWE's perspective it makes a lot of sense why they would be hesitant to bring him back.
