Another rivalry that seems almost natural is Shawn Michaels versus Sting. Now, while the sight of seeing the two 50+ year old men fight might not fill some readers with a sense of glee, it is a match that would create interest and intrigue. The smart money says that should WWE book this angle, it will inevitably centre around religion and both men's faith. But that need not be the case, as there's also the matter of WWE versus WCW and the nWo versus DX, too. Michaels ran in and blasted The Icon with Sweet Chin Music during Sting's match with Triple H at WrestleMania 31 and while Sting may have forgiven and forgotten like a good Christian man, he could also very well be harbouring a grudge. Perhaps The Vigilante turns up to stop the show for the Showstopper when Michaels is making one of his quarterly appearances for the 'E and delivers some justice, leading to a match between the two legends. The odds of this being booked are, admittedly, pretty damn slim. Michaels is intent on staying retired and Sting's career could be over after he suffered a nasty neck injury during his match with Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2015. Besides, the crowd would be resistant to boo for either. Besides, could WWE have Michaels lose in his comeback or would they dare ask Sting to go 0-3 in his WWE career? It's a potential political minefield and while the action would be satisfactory, it's just not going to live up to the hype, is it? It would have been great in 2002, but fourteen years later? I'm not so sure.
