7 Things We Learned From The Evolution Of Punk Episode 3

3. Punk Has Probably Spent Too Much Time Focusing On His Detractors

The Evolution of Punk - Episode 3 - Hurt

You would think, coming from the world of pro wrestling, that criticism would roll off CM Punk like water off a duck's back.

However, he seems to spend way too much time focusing on the negativity being hurled his way in this MMA attempt. Especially following his injury (which some people claimed to be a hoax, apparently). Maybe it's motivation for him - prove the naysayers wrong - but reading comment threads on the internet, watching videos deriding his attempt to fight in the UFC - past a certain point, it doesn't seem healthy. Or beneficial, at the very least.

In fact, it sounds like a distraction.

He says the only reason he doesn't respond is that he doesn't "want it to drop to the circus level" - which is great, but it's not the responding that seems to be an issue, it's the obsessing. While some of his critics are valid - the episode shows Kenny Florian, a former UFC title challenger in multiple weight classes, voice his concern - many are just anonymous internet users.

Entitled to their opinion, but Punk shouldn't be concerned with that.
