The first thing WWE should have done to preserve any chance of fans liking Roman Reigns was keep him as far away from Daniel Bryan as possible in 2014/15. People were never going to cheer Reigns over Bryan, and that's not even Roman's fault either. The fact is that Daniel was simply more popular than everyone else on the roster.

On the 16 February 2015 episode of Raw, Reigns and Bryan had a verbal spat that did nothing for either man. After WWE had caved to fan pressure and booked both men in a match at Fastlane which would determine WrestleMania's top title contender, the last thing they needed was Reigns insulting a fan-chosen cult hero.

That's exactly what Reigns did. Lambasting Bryan for crying over his Rumble elimination, Roman then said he would have taken such disappointment like a real man. As if that wasn't enough, he then threatened to squash Bryan's 'Mania dreams at Fastlane.
