7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Homecoming 2019

6. Dummy, Yeah

Two fan favourite match stipulations made their returns at Homecoming, the first of which being the Monster's Ball, pitting Eli Drake against Abyss.

In the weeks building to this match, Eli didn't have much momentum. With the returns of both Tommy Dreamer and Raven to take him out, the former World Champion didn't have the best odds going into Sunday night. As is tradition with wrestling though, whoever doesn't have the last laugh before the pay-per-view typically ends up winning the match. That was exactly the case here, with Eli smashing a wooden paddle over the head of the Hall of Famer. Not exactly the most extreme way to end a Monster's Ball, but it's still a win.

There was no way Abyss could've won the match if Impact wanted it to make sense. He's a rare sight these days, whereas Eli is a prominent fixture in the midcard. Is this the win that will propel him back to the main event scene?

We dummies can only hope.
