7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 18)

3. Better Late Than Never

Y'see, it's angles like Friday night's one that make all the cackling even less tolerable. Bayley is at her best when she's booked as a serious elitist who thinks she has some God-given right to hold the SmackDown Women's Title. It's no accident that she's one million times more effective when WWE book her that way.

Her stoic facial expressions and all-business attitude also freed up Bianca Belair to take centre stage as the bubbly, outgoing personality. Their brawl smacked of the fight Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley had on Raw this past Monday, and that's a good thing.

That was a case of "better late than never" itself.

It's so odd that WWE prepped for an eventual HIAC match between Bayley and Bianca by booking so much laughter and merriment for months. Here, Bayley showed the mean streak she needs permanently. The way that image of her holding the belt took over the ThunderDome screens was unique and interesting too.
