7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 7)
Ups...
7. Fine Set-Up
Onto the positives, and there were a lot of them.
Firstly, one of SmackDown's most unexpected plus points. No, there's no real need for yet another Women's Tag Title rematch pitting Tamina and Natalya vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, but it's hard to pick faults in WWE's build here. They kept the Tam vs. Reginald angle-meets-match short, then booked a beatdown afterwards.
Also, Tamina was obviously about to murder Reggie before Nia and Shayna stopped her from hitting a 'Superfly Splash'. Their interference caused a DQ, then the reigning champs kicked the sh*t out of their challengers before strolling away with a smirk. Simple and solid booking = no complaints.
The whiff of a title change next week is very much in the air too, and that might not be the worst thing. Baszler would be cut free from Jax, which would mean she'd be available to challenge either Rhea Ripley or Bianca Belair at some point. Bring that on.
