7 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 1)

Downs...

3. Adios, Aiden

This is all very sad, isn't it?

Rusev Day may finally be over. Lana appeared to join the popular tandem last night, siding with her husband on-air for the first time in what feels like a millennia, but joining Rusev and Aiden English wasn't her agenda. Instead, 'The Ravishing Russian' sowed seeds of discontent. While the former Vaudevillain's back was turned, Lana stated that something was holding Rusev back, inferring it was the oblivious English.

It's impossible to say whether or not the teased split will be positive or negative yet, but it's sad. Rusev Day are hugely over, and would've drawn a monster pop from the Montreal crowd had they appeared in the arena, yet WWE have done precisely nothing with them. Like Damien Mizdow before them, their popularity has been wasted.

Returning to a more serious, focused character may result in a stronger push for Rusev, but spare a thought for poor old Aiden. If they split, he'll be lucky to make television more than once a month.
