7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (5 Aug - Results & Review)

WWE Raw Iyo Sky Sonya Deville
WWE

At some point, WWE has got to look at the video of these women’s matches and put two and two together.

Once again, another match involving the new women’s heel stable fell apart mid-match and looked horribly sloppy, clumsy, and clunky. The common denominator seems to be Sonya Deville, as she and Iyo Sky (replacing Dakota Kai after a backstage attack) fumbled about for a while before Sky and Kairi Sane just took to flying around the ringside area to put the heels down.

But Damage CTRL’s high-flying wasn’t enough to save this match. It also raised questions of why WWE has spent all this time building up this heel stable, only to have them have a three-on-two advantage, with Iyo wrestling in street clothes, and they still lost. Combine that with Shayna Baszler being on the verge of losing to Lyra Valkyria earlier, and your new heel stable came very close to going 0-2 Monday night.

A more immediate issue here is Deville, who has not looked sharp at all in the ring since returning. Matches she’s been involved in have completely fallen apart at various points, and you really can’t have that on television at this stage – not with the level of talent that exists in WWE and wrestling in general in 2024.
