7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 13)

3. A Tournament Nobody Needs

Adam Pearce has set up a tournament designed to crown new contenders for The Usos, and The Viking Raiders vs. Drew McIntyre and Sheamus has been announced for the first round. For the first round. Erm...should somebody tell creative that this might be the only match in the tourney worth watching?

One of these teams is blatantly becoming Jimmy and Jey's next challengers.

Basically, Drew/Sheamus vs. Erik/Ivar should've just been a number one contendership battle rather than part of a full-scale tournament. There aren't enough teams in the Friday night pool to make proper brackets worthwhile, and that'll show in coming weeks.

It does, however, look like WWE wants to split up the Raw and SmackDown tag belts before WrestleMania. Judgment Day will probs go after the Raw versions soon, and then the Drew/Sheamus combo might take the blue brand ones.
