6. Subtle Nods To Cody

Obviously, the biggest story out there right now is if and when Cody Rhodes shows up on WWE programming. Fans thought he was going to appear at Elimination Chamber, and when that didn’t happen, they speculated that he would walk out on Raw Monday night.

The rumors started flying Saturday that Rhodes could be the Miz’s surprise partner he called after Elimination Chamber, and Miz knew that when he went out to announce his new cohort. In describing the partner, Miz said he was someone he could relate to, from a fighting family, an athlete and celebrity, someone who is… “dashing.”

Oooooh. If you forgot, one of Cody’s gimmicks in WWE was Dashing Cody Rhodes, a narcissistic character obsessed with his looks.

Later, Rey Mysterio said referred to Miz’s partner as an “outsider,” which is a callback to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall invading WCW way back in 1996. That was a great little Easter Egg for anyone paying attention.

But then they paid off the surprise as… Logan Paul. Truthfully, if it had been Rhodes, social media would have melted down from fans screaming about how they’ve buried Cody (and they’d be right), so this was the right call.
