7 Ups & 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 31)

3. A Meaningless Finish

Raw began with a lackluster opening segment. It had an eventless non-confrontation between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. And it ended with a six-man tag match that was entertaining, but ultimately pointless making it better suited for a Smackdown main event, rather than Raw.

The main even pitted the six qualified participants in next months Money in the Bank ladder match against each other, with Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens teaming up against Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose and Cesaro. While some dissension was teased on the heel team, nothing ever came of it, and the good guys simply won when KO was occupied and quickly ate a Dirty Deeds and pinfall.

Contrast this with the build to the fatal fourway Intercontinental Championship match at Extreme Rules between Zayn, Owens, Cesaro and Miz. Every week, the four men were pitted more and more against each other, even when they teamed with each other in various combos, tension was still teased and often bubbled over.

Aside from Jericho and KO briefly shoving each other (and the backstage vignettes), there was nothing to this bout except for something to eat up the last 15 minutes of Raw. And while it was a perfectly fine match, it didnt feel like something that should be the main event of Raw.
