7 Ups And 0 Downs From WWE NXT Great American Bash (Jul 6)
5. Cameron Grimes Is Going To... Be A Butler
In a compelling twist during last week's NXT, LA Knight accepted a Million Dollar Championship battle against current rival Cameron Grimes, under one condition; if Grimes lost, he would become the champ's butler.
With the stakes well and truly raised, Grimes hit the ring like a man possessed and nailed Knight with a kick on the apron and high cross-body within a minute of the bell. He was not here to play around. For the most part, this was ironically Grimes' game as he had an innovative answer for just about everything Knight had to offer, catching him mid-shoulder tackle with a Superman forearm, pulling off his always-stunning running Spanish fly, and even whacking out a sickening Poisonrana late in the day too.
Knight's all-round d*ckishness paid dividends in the end, however, as the champ's insistence on introducing the Million Dollar title to proceedings led to a DDT onto the blinged up strap on the outside that will induce shivers upon a rewatch. Despite beating the ten-count, it was all but over for Grimes as Knight hit his BFT for the heart-breaking victory.
Never fear, for the sight of Grimes reluctantly fulfilling the role of butler over the next few week's will be enough to wash away all memories of the incredibly over star coming up short here. And will make his eventual coronation down the line that little more satisfying when all is said and done.
