7 Ups And 1 Downs From Last Night's NXT (18 March)
2. Some Princely Context
Finn Balor's been entertaining in NXT, but he's not really made a whole lot of sense. We all knew that, in real life, he's here because a) they needed more star-power, b) he was fairly directionless for a supposed top guy on Raw, and c) the great work he does for LGBT initiatives was an issue for WWE's Saudi paymasters.
However his Kayfabe reason of... just deciding he didn't like Gargano was a bit weak. Give us an insight into the journey he went on with the entire company shed some much needed (if a bit late) light on the matter. He's the best in the world but he lost the fire that fuelled him, so he's come back to the last place he truly had it.
Much like Ciampa and Gargano, Balor's underwhelmed on occasion when given a mic. This week with the benefit of a better production, concise editing and the luxury of retakes he absolutely crushed it. The moment where the music drops out and he just goes straight down the camera was, in particular, spine-tingling.
