7 Ups And 3 Downs For Last Night's NXT (May 6)

3. "Alright Everyone, Sit Down"

Finn Balor
WWE.com

I always think Finn Balor's quite bad at promos - something about the pitch of his voice not quite lining up with the level of deep, dark threat he's trying to convey - but this was really good. Short, sharp, to the point, and making the incredibly nonsensical way he was written off the show the other feel like it might actually lead to something interesting.

Boys and girls, we have ourselves a mystery! My money's on Killian Dain if they can justify putting him into yet another losing feud.

Regardless though, standing at the podium with his mic in hand and that seen-it-all expression, this segment also doubled really well as Mr Balor's Introduction To Insider Wrestling Terms For Beginners. I used to be a university lecturer, I know that resigned, exhausted body language when I see it.

The Office - noun- An informal term amongst wrestlers for the men and/or women who make the booking decisions in a pro-wrestling company.

Push - verb - The act of increasing your standing in pro-wrestling by being booked favorably. Usually as a result of winning matches, microphone time, or entering a feud with a more notable wrestler.

The Guy - noun - The strange WWE phenomenon of needing one performer to remain at the very top of the company, regardless of ability or fan reception. Often at the expense of other more talented or popular wrestlers.

Squash - adjective - What both Chelsea Green vs Xia Li and Akira Tozawa vs Jack Gallagher was supposed to be, but wasn't.

Right, that's enough for today everyone. For next week make sure you read Michael Sidgwick's Development Hell chapters 7-12.
