7 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 10)

1. I Need More From Elias Samson

When I first saw Elias Samson at the end of last year on NXT TV, I was intrigued by the character - he seemed to be a tortured artist, carrying his guitar by his side as he took out his rage on his opponents. Here we are two months on and I don't feel like we know any more about the man. In this match with Jesse Sorensen, he showed aggression, but if a friend of mine started watching NXT with me and asked me to explain the Elias Samson character, all I'd have to say is "Well he's moody, and he carries a guitar that he never plays". That's it. With the level of talent in NXT being at such a high, there's no room for gimmicks that are half-assed. Samson needs to either go all-out and tell us more about the character or fans will lose interest in it and move on.
