7 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's NXT (April 15)
Ups
7. Extended Universe
I'm glad NXT had already taken the time to remind us that the Finn Balor vs WALTER feud was a thing because it meant you could get past the "haha! oh yeah!?" stage of this match in plenty of time to actually enjoy it. In what's sure to be a common placeholder over the next few weeks The Prinxe took on Imperium in a pretty solid opener.
While the match itself isn't anything to write home about (and there's the entire other conversation about these 'treading water' feuds and whether they should be happening in the first place) there's a very large positive in the shape of Fabien Aichner. The man can go.
One of the issues in the build to Undisputed Era vs Imperium was the disparity in the respective bookings of the group. UE felt like four incredibly talented wrestlers, each with their own strengths, who just happened to be led by a man of World Championship caliber. Imperium felt like WALTER and his three mates.
But Aichner, Wolfe, and Barthel are all great performers in their own right, so it's great that they might get a chance to demonstrate that on NXT in the coming weeks. Yes, Balor was comprehensive in his victory, but both of the men he faced here came out of it with strengthened reputations.
