7 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's NXT (April 15)
6. Queen City
I don't normally get too swept up in the video packages because, well, they're always good, but the two NXT aired this week felt both pertinent and necessary and compulsive. Given that they've clearly made the decision not to feature Charlotte on the live shows thus far, hers, in particular, was worthy of note.
In what would likely have been a bit of a lame 'oh well done, aren't you so great' promo, Charlotte recounted her entire journey through WWE and near-endless achievements she's had in that time. The titles she's won, the women she's beat, the absurdly consistent quality of the matches she's put on, if anyone is still labouring under the idea she's just pushed because she's an office favourite give your head a firm wobble.
The decision to put her up against Mia Yim is a strange one, given there's already an established number 1 contender, but the decision to lean into her history in the brand by having her face her first-ever opponent is a depth to character rarely seen in WWE. So, a strange one, but like satisfying nonetheless.
